A sporting Sunday as a protagonist for the city of Potenza. The Interregional Archery Competition was held at the Caizzo gym, valid for qualification for the Italian Indoor Championships which will be held in Pordenone from 6 to 9 February 2025. The competition saw the participation of around 80 athletes coming from Campania, Puglia and the various ASDs in the Lucanian territory. The event was an important opportunity for comparison for archers from the able-bodied and disabled categories, in full compliance with the Fitarco (Italian Archery Federation) protocol. The presence of disabled athletes, including prominent names such as Anna Varriale and Valerio Comminiello of the Asd Arcieri Lucani Potenza and Roberta Tempone of the Asd La Fenice of Viggiano, has once again confirmed the inclusiveness and social value of shooting with ‘bow. The three Lucanian athletes, who performed well in the competition, have been selected to participate in the Para Archery Championship which will be held in Novara on 25 January. This result demonstrates not only the high technical level of the participants, but also the strength of the regional Paralympic movement. Doing the honors was the sports councilor of the Municipality of Potenza, Gerardo Nardiello, who expressed his support for the initiative. «On behalf of the Municipality of Potenza, I am proud to be here to testify to the commitment we put into supporting sport, in all its forms, with particular attention to inclusiveness and accessibility for all». «Always alongside people with disabilities. Archery is a sport that unites, that overcomes physical and mental barriers. Events like this, which demonstrate how sport can be an extraordinary opportunity for growth for everyone”, declared Nardiello, underlining the presence of blind and wheelchair athletes, confirming the inclusiveness of the competition. The Municipality of Potenza has once again demonstrated its support for the values of sport and the promotion of physical activity for all, without barriers. The initiative, organized by the Asd Arcieri Lucani Potenza, had the merit of combining sporting passion, inclusiveness and a spirit of competition, bringing top-level athletes to Potenza and offering a day of healthy competition.
