The Indian badminton ace PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen, respectively, won the women’s and men’s titles of the 2024 Syed Modi International badminton tournament. It was PV Sindhu’s first BWF title since the 2022 Singapore Open title.
The USD 2.10 Lakh prize money BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour 300 Syed Modi International badminton tournament was held at the Babu Banarsi Das Indoor Stadium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 26 November -1 December 2024.
First title for PV Sindhu since 2022
Since 2022, after her win at the 2022 Singapore Open, PV Sindhu has failed to win a BWF Tournament singles title. In between, Sindhu made the finals at the 2023 Spain Masters Super 300 and 2024 Malaysia Masters Super 500 but lost in the finals .
She broke her title drought at the 2024 Syed Modi International badminton tournament.
She defeated Chinese player Wu Luo Yu 21-14, 21-16 in the final to winSyed Modi International Badminton singles title.
Lakshya Sen wins his 5th BWF Title
Lakshya Sen, who lost in the semi-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics, won his fifth BWF singles title of his career by winning the 2024 Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament singles title at Lucknow.
In the final, Lakshya Sen defeated Singapore’s Jia Heng Jason Teh 21-6, 21-7.
Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly wins Doubles Title
The Indian women’s duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly secured the third title for India in the 2024 Syed Modi International Badminton.
In the final, the Indian women’s duo defeated China’s pair of Bao Li Jing and Li Qian 21-18, 21-11.
This was the second BWF title since they won their first title at the Odisha Open in 2022.

About Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament
The Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament has been held annually in Lucknow by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) since 2009.
The Tournament is part of the BWF World Tour from 2018.
It is organised in the memory of the Indian badminton player Syed Modi.
Badminton World Federation (BWF)
The Badminton World Federation is the world’s badminton sport governing body.
It was set up as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) in 1934 in London.
The BWF organises BWF World Junior Championships and BWF World Senior Championships, BWF Sudirman Cup and the BWF Thomas and Uber Cup.
