The first edition of Fifa’s new intercontinental club team tournament was decided on Wednesday evening.
Real Madrid won the final against Mexican CF Pachuca after a dream goal by Rodrygo.

Rodrygo showed his class in the 53rd minute when he made a couple of turns outside the attacking penalty area and then placed the ball into a slot that Pachuca goalkeeper Carlos Moreno couldn’t reach.
The goal made it 2–0 for Real Madrid, who won the Intercontinental Cup final 3–0.
The first goal at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar was scored by Kylian Mbappé, when Vinicius Junior was generous and passed instead of shooting himself. Then Vinicius made it 3–0 on a penalty in the final minutes.

First edition
The Intercontinental Cup is a new tournament that was decided for the first time in 2024.
It has roughly the same format as the Club World Cup had in the past. The winner of the six different football confederationsinfoclosed the six different football confederationsUefa, Caf, Concacaf, Conmebol, AFC and OFC. The Champions League settled for the victory in the Intercontinental Cup. The arrangement favored the European team, Real Madrid, who missed the playoffs and entered the final directly.
Next summer, the Club World Cup will be played with a new format and more teams. Then follows the Intercontinental Cup during the autumn season, just like this year.
