Report 3rd game weekend Regionalliga Southeast: SG Schorndorf II surprisingly gave up – News

Of all places, Schorndorf’s Bundesliga reserves were hit by newly promoted SV Lohof. The Daimlerstadt team lost 3:5 for the first time this season and suffered a bitter setback in the race for the autumn championship. After all, SG II drew the first game of the weekend. In the end, TSV Neuhausen-Nymphenburg Munich II achieved a confident 6-2 triumph.

Pretty slowed down: This is how the Schorndorf badminton artists feel after the unexpected bankruptcy in the northern neighborhood of Munich. “Given our demands, success against the promoted team is actually mandatory,” clarified press spokesman Michael Bothner. “At the same time, we see the strong performance of Lohof and in particular Felix Hoffmann and Luna Šaban. To our disappointment, SV really deserved the two points.”

Hoffmann and the Croatian international Šaban were involved in four of the five games won and thus laid the foundation for the coup. Schorndorf threw everything into the balance, but lost three of the four three-set games. Kerstin Wagner/Esin Habiboglou and Simon Kramer came closest to a possible draw. The Schorndorf women showed great morale in the deciding set and almost snatched the victory they thought was certain from Šaban/Jasmin Kuske. However, the Lohofer duo dramatically kept their nose in the lead at 23:21. When the score was 2:4, S. Kramer had the chance to shorten the score again. The experienced former Bundesliga player Hoffmann showed his quality again and again, showed his staying power and completely closed the bag with 21:18 in the third round. In the second men’s doubles, Yannick Haag/Joem Joselal bit their teeth against Hoffmann/Hannes Kämmer.

Benedikt Tausch kept his hope for something countable high for a long time. First, alongside S. Kramer, he prevented the decisive 0:3 deficit after the opening doubles. Sebastian Keller/Christian Geßner clearly checkmated the SG top pairing. In his individual game, Tausch was overcome by a weak phase in the second round, then picked up the previously successful thread again and left Geßner on the left. In the women’s singles, Habiboglou was completely lost against the strong Šaban. Another big opportunity for a draw was missed by the mixed Wagner/Joselal, who initially confidently won half the battle (21:14). As a result, Lohof found better access to the game. Birgit/Maximilian Walter suddenly had the more suitable solutions ready, initiated the turnaround (21:14) and achieved the important triumph (21:14). Haag made cosmetic results, leaving M. Walter out in the cold with the final score being 3:5.

The day before the sun was still shining in the blue badminton sky. The team from the Rems-Murr Valley put on a confident performance and underlined their own ambitions to reach the top. Schorndorf won the comparison of the second representatives with 6:2 and exacerbated the crisis of the Munich club. The Schorndorf men were able to claim this success. They took the lead 2-1 after the opening doubles. The hosts in the game held Monika Weigert/Lara Hart, who showed Wagner/Habiboglou the limits in two sets. As a result, SG II left little to burn. S. Kramer and Tausch lost out to Fabian Bender and Jonas Braun respectively. In the mixed doubles, Wagner/Marco Weese impressively demonstrated their own quality against Weigert/Martin Del Valle Salinas. Haag provided a small exclamation mark, taking victory from the up-and-coming reigning Southeast German doubles champion in the U17 age group, Jakob Sjöblom, in a heart-stopping final. Habiboglou’s narrow defeat in the women’s singles against Hart was easy to cope with – 6:2.

Despite the first defeat of the season, SG II climbed to second place thanks to the two defeats of the previous league leader TSV Niederwürschnitz. However, due to the zero number in Lohof, the gap to fellow relegated team BSV Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen is now two points. The first half of the season is scheduled for the third weekend in December. In the top game against the rivals TSV Neubiberg/Ottobrunn 1920, who have the same number of points, and Post-SV Landshut, who are in the race to stay in the league, the SG runners-up are aiming to return to the road to success.
