Marta: Absolutely.It’s not always overt; sometimes it’s subtle,hidden in gestures,in whispers,in the lack of opportunities. But it’s always there, festering, until it explodes like this. It’s a systemic issue that requires a deep, cultural shift.

Marta: We need a multifaceted approach. Stricter punishments, like lifetime bans for offenders, can deter future incidents. But it’s not just about punishment.
We need education and awareness programs at every level, from youth academies to professional clubs. We need role models, like myself and others who have spoken out against prejudice, to inspire change. And most importantly,we need fans,coaches,and players to actively challenge racism whenever they see it. Silence is complicity.
What would you say to young girls aspiring to play football, notably those from marginalized communities who might be discouraged from pursuing their dreams because of incidents like this?
Marta: My message to them is: Don’t let the actions of a few dampen your spirit.This fight is bigger than one incident. Your talent, your passion, your dreams are invaluable.
Keep playing, keep fighting, and keep pushing for a better future. we need your voices, we need your talent, and we need your courage. This is our game, and we will not tolerate hate.
