Spanish viewers will continue to enjoy free access to the UEFA Champions League finals thanks to a new agreement between RTVE adn UEFA.This partnership will grant RTVE broadcasting rights for the next three editions of the prestigious tournament, culminating in the 2026/27 season.
RTVE emerged victorious from a competitive bidding process initiated by UEFA last August. The public broadcaster proudly announced, “The next three UEFA Champions League finals will be freely accessible on RTVE thanks to this agreement.”
Football fans can mark their calendars for the first final under this new agreement, scheduled for May 31, 2025, at Munich’s allianz Arena. This highly anticipated match is projected to captivate a global audience of approximately 400 million viewers.
The recent Champions League final, held on June 1, 2024, at Wembley Stadium in London, witnessed Real Madrid’s triumph over Borussia Dortmund. This thrilling encounter drew an average audience of 6,176,000 viewers in Spain, achieving a remarkable 48.8 percent screen share and reaching a total of 10,399,000 viewers at some point during the broadcast.
This agreement solidifies the longstanding partnership between UEFA and RTVE,which previously broadcast the Champions League finals in 2022,2023,and 2024. The deal encompasses the finals for the 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 seasons, ensuring that spanish football enthusiasts can continue to experience the excitement of the Champions League finale on free-to-air television.
