The ‘2024 Anyang City Middle School Stove League’ ended with Samil Middle School winning.
The Stove League, which was held for two days from November 30th to December 1st at the Anyang Hogye Middle School gymnasium, was participated by six teams, including Hogye Middle School, Jeju Dong Middle School, Whimoon Middle School, Juseong Middle School, Samil Middle School, and Chuncheon Middle School, with the goal of improving the skills of lower grade players. It was planned by the Basketball Association and Dasarang Community, an incorporated association.
In addition to Good Together participating in the operation without compensation, Molten Korea provided the game balls needed for the game, and STIZ gave the players necessary basketball supplies, adding meaning to the tournament.
The final protagonist of Stove League was Sam Il-joong. Samil Middle School, which faced Group A first place Whimoon Middle School in the final, easily won 78-50 thanks to the all-round performance of Han Jae-chan (2nd year, 180cm), raising expectations for the next season. Jae-Chan Han, who was selected as MVP on the recommendation of the leaders who participated in the competition, said, “This is my first time participating in the Good Together competition. I have wanted to participate for a long time, but I am even more happy to have been selected as MVP. I stood out because my teammates were good at catching passes. I am grateful to my teammates. I think there is nothing that Samil Middle School can’t do if they follow Coach Kim Min-gu’s teachings like Goyang Sono’s Lee Jeong-hyeon. “I hope you look forward to 2025.”
Coach Kim Min-gu, who teaches Samil Middle School, also said, “It was a good experience for the lower grade players as the competition stipulates that only first and second grade middle school students play. I especially liked the goal of the competition, where growth is more important than winning. If I have the chance next year, I would like to participate.” “I would like to express my gratitude to those who prepared.”
A parent of Jeju Dong Middle School who watched the competition said, “Due to the nature of Jeju’s region, there are no opportunities to play against other teams except for competitions, so I feel happy about this competition. The children will be able to play games with various teams in the metropolitan area and watch professional basketball games, which will give them precious time.” “I had this experience, and I would definitely like to come back to the Good Together competition next season if I am allowed to participate,” he said.
In the 2025 season, Good Together also plans to conduct an educational program on the duties of student athletes in which experts from various fields participate in addition to improving the basketball skills of student athletes.
