SECL Director Inspects Gevra Megaproject and Inaugurates Badminton Tournament
Gevra, December 27, 2024: Shri biranchi Das, Director (Personnel) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), undertook a comprehensive visit to the Gevra Megaproject today. His itinerary included a thorough inspection of coal production, dispatch operations, and overburden (OB) removal activities at the Gevra mine.
During his interaction with the mine’s leadership team, Shri Das meticulously reviewed the mine’s production and productivity figures, offering valuable guidance to optimize operations.
Promoting Sportsmanship and Camaraderie
adding to his busy schedule, Shri Das also inaugurated the three-day Coal India Inter-Company Badminton Competition 2024-25, hosted in the Gevra area. Prior to the commencement of the tournament, a heartfelt floral tribute was paid to the late former Prime Minister Shri Manmohan Singh.
Shri Das warmly welcomed the team leaders and players from all participating Coal India subsidiaries,wishing them the best of luck in the competition. This event not only fosters a spirit of healthy competition but also strengthens the bonds of camaraderie among the employees of Coal India subsidiaries.

Shri Das’s visit also included meetings with members of the joint Consultative Commitee (JCC) and the Welfare Committee, demonstrating SECL’s commitment to open interaction and collaboration with its workforce.

PG: Absolutely.I believe strongly in the power of sports to bridge divides and build strong relationships. These tournaments offer a much-needed break from the routine, allowing employees to de-stress, recharge, and connect with colleagues in a fun and informal surroundings.
Furthermore, these events can serve as a platform to identify and nurture sporting talent within the association. Who knows, the next badminton champion could be unearthed at the Coal India Inter-Company tournament!
