A Season of Triumph and Festive Cheer at Judo club Souillac
The Judo Club Souillac concluded a remarkable season on a high note with a successful competition held on December 15th, organized by the Judo Club of Gourdon. Young athletes from the club showcased their skills and determination, achieving extraordinary results.
Among the standout performers were Mathis Douarec-Lopez and Timéo Lecourt-Fritz in the youngest category,Lyloo Bellet and Swan Piermay in the chicks division,and Andréas Lafage and Théo Langlet in the mini-chicks group. These two rising stars capped off the day with a stunning frist-place finish, demonstrating their immense potential.
As the year drew to a close,the Judo Club Souillac continued its tradition of fostering camaraderie and holiday spirit. On the eve of the holidays, the club hosted internal mini-competitions exclusively for its young members. The event culminated in a festive awards ceremony and a delightful Christmas snack,creating lasting memories for all participants.
Looking ahead, the Judo Club Souillac is gearing up for an exciting new year.Training resumes on January 8th, 2025, with the first competition scheduled for January 11th in Cahors.

Amazing! They certainly had a strong finish to the year. Mathis Douarec-Lopez and Timéo Lecourt-Fritz’s first-place finish in the youngest category is truly inspiring. Do you think early starts like theirs are crucial for long-term success in Judo?
Élise: Absolutely! Starting young allows athletes to develop essential motor skills, discipline, and a deep understanding of the sport’s fundamentals. It lays a strong foundation for future growth. But, it’s not just about winning at a young age.It’s about instilling a love for the sport and encouraging a lifelong commitment to physical well-being.
Speaking of commitment, the club’s holiday mini-competitions and awards ceremony sound like a fantastic way to end the year on a positive note. How vital is fostering a sense of community and camaraderie within a judo club?
Élise: Community is the heart and soul of judo. It’s about building friendships, supporting each other, and celebrating shared achievements, on and off the mat. Such events create lasting memories and reinforce the values of respect, discipline, and teamwork that are integral to judo.
