St. Nicholas Tournament 2024
Baseball highlight in the Bayerhalle: The Wuppertal Stingrays’ St. Nicholas tournament delights young and old alike
Last weekend, Wuppertal’s Bayerhalle was transformed into a baseball mecca when the Wuppertal Stingrays hosted the traditional St. Nicholas Tournament. A total of 18 teams, divided into the U10 and U12 age groups with 9 teams each, ensured exciting games and a great atmosphere. Around 250 children showed off their skills on three playing fields at the same time and played thrilling games that thrilled both parents and fans.
The young baseball players presented themselves in top form and impressively showed how much talent the young players have. The tournament was particularly exciting in the U10 group: The big challenge cup this year went to the Ratingen Goosenecks, who were able to narrowly prevail against the Cologne Cardinals 1 in a direct comparison. The Cologne Cardinals 2 triumphed in the U12 category, confidently securing the tournament victory.
At the award ceremony, all teams received thunderous applause. The pride in their achievements was written all over the children’s faces – and the coaches and parents also beamed with joy. For many of the young players, the St. Nicholas Tournament was an unforgettable experience that will further motivate them to improve their skills.
In addition to the sporting highlights, the tournament scored points with catering that left nothing to be desired – whether snacks, drinks, fresh waffles or delicious salads, there was something for every taste and kept the baseball fans in a good mood.
With the St. Nicholas Tournament, the Wuppertal Stingrays have once again shown how committed they are to young baseball players. Everyone is already looking forward to the next edition of this special tournament, which for many is an integral part of the pre-Christmas season. But at the beginning of the new year it will be the same again New Years Cup of the Westfalenbande by the Wuppertal Stingrays, where the youngsters will once again compete against each other.
