Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby will likely undergo season-ending surgery, sources tell ESPN
Las Vegas Raiders wait that he defensive wing, Maxx Crosbya three-time Pro Bowler, who has already been ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, undergo arthroscopic surgery ankle that will likely end its 2024 season, league sources told ESPN.
Crosby is scheduled to meet with Dr. Rob Anderson on Monday and undergo arthroscopic surgery that will determine if further surgery is necessary and how much damage has been done to the ankle, which was initially injured in the Week 2 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Crosby has played this season with the same ankle injury that now requires at least one surgery, and possibly two depending on what Monday’s procedure shows. But doctors believe the extent of the injury could be worse than initially thought, so Crosby is now not expected to play again this season.
The Raiders have already been eliminated from postseason contention, and Crosby will begin his rehab with an eye toward the 2025 season. The question will be if it will be for the Raiders.
Several teams inquired about Crosby with Las Vegas before or during the NFL trade deadline in November. The Raiders refused to consider interest from any team, with owner Mark Davis even telling ESPN: “We are not trading Maxx Crosby. Before or after the trade deadline!!!”
Still, it won’t stop other teams from reaching out to the Raiders again this offseason as they try to rebuild their roster around whichever quarterback they draft for the 2025 season.
Crosby will turn 28 in August and is entering the prime of his career, which will be attractive to other teams — or Las Vegas if they retain him.
