Swimming: Léon Marchand and Summer McIntosh elected swimmers of the year by the International Federation


Frenchman Léon Marchand and Canadian Summer McIntosh, who both had dazzling Paris Olympics, were elected swimmer of the year 2024 by the International Swimming Federation this Sunday, December 15. The 22-year-old Frenchman particularly distinguished himself by winning four gold medals (200 and 400m medley, 200m butterfly and breaststroke) in front of his audience in Paris. He also won bronze with the 4x100m medley relay. The Canadian won three gold medals in the French capital (200 and 400m medley, 200m butterfly) at just 17 years old. She also won silver in the 400m freestyle final. She received her trophy this Sunday during a ceremony organized at the Short Course Swimming Worlds in Budapest, where she shone with three gold medals and as many world records. Léon Marchand preferred to skip the event in anticipation of a year 2025 loaded with competitions.
