Novak Djokovic will begin his 2025 season and his quest for an 11th Australian Open title at the Brisbane tournament, organizers announced on Wednesday. He will be alongside Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune and Frances Tiafoe in the Australian tournament draw.
At 37, the Serb, now coached by Andy Murray, is aiming for a 25th Grand Slam title after a frustrating 2024, despite winning singles gold at the Paris Olympics.
The ATP-WTA tournament will take place from December 29 to January 5, before the Australian Open which begins on January 12.
“I can’t wait to start my Australian tour at the Brisbane International and compete again at the Pat Rafter Arena,” commented the Serbian, current 7th player in the world.
If he wins, he would win his 100th title, joining Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103) as the only men to have reached this milestone.
At the start of 2024, Djokovic was eliminated in the semi-finals of the Australian Open by future winner Jannik Sinner.
With Murray at his side, the “Djoker” will try to win for the 11th time in Melbourne. This would allow her to increase her record of Grand Slam titles to 25 and thus overtake the Australian Margaret Court in first place among the most successful, men and women combined.
