The TG Stadtlohn/Ahaus tennis club is celebrating a wave of success, with top players Vivien sandberg and Alexander skripaev achieving extraordinary results in recent tournaments. While Sandberg dominated the courts in sunny South Africa, Skripaev battled fiercely for a top spot in Germany.
Sandberg, currently ranked 548th in the WTA rankings, secured her third consecutive doubles title at the ITF 15K tournament in Stellenbosch. Partnering with Luisa Meyer, the Ahauser duo showcased their dominance, defeating Sara Borkop and Dune Vaissaud 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals. The final saw them triumph over Astrid Cirotte and Lucie Pawlak with a score of 6-4, 6-3. This victory marks a significant milestone for sandberg, propelling her further up the WTA rankings.
Meanwhile, Skripaev, ranked 118th in germany, fought valiantly at the NRW Championships in Kamen. Competing in the U21 category, he reached the finals, facing off against Piet Steveker from Rochusclub Düsseldorf. despite a hard-fought battle, Skripaev ultimately fell short, losing in three sets (6-7, 6-4, 1-6).

Steffi Graf: Absolutely crucial. Tennis is as much a mental game as it is indeed physical. His ability to dig deep and win those tight matches shows a champion’s spirit. You can’t teach that kind of grit.
