Legendary Softball Team, the 4 Chevaliers Essor, returns to Matane for 60th Anniversary Celebration
get ready for a night of laughter and athleticism as the iconic 4 Chevaliers Essor softball team makes a triumphant return to Matane on August 2, 2025, at 7 p.m. The event, hosted by the Coors Light/Dépanneur du lac Eastern Ball League, promises to be a memorable celebration of the team’s six decades of entertaining audiences across North America.
As their inception in 1965, the 4 Chevaliers Essor have captivated fans with their unique blend of softball prowess and comedic performance. Often compared to the basketball legends, the Harlem globetrotters, they deliver a show that’s as entertaining as it is remarkable. Their 2017 performance in matane drew record crowds, solidifying their status as local favorites.
“We knew Matane had to be a part of the 4 Chevaliers Essor’s 60th anniversary tour,” says Sylvain Caron, president of the Coors Light/Dépanneur du Lac Eastern Ball League and the driving force behind the team’s return. “Fans can expect the same hilarious antics and incredible athletic feats they’ve come to love. It’s been four years since their last visit, so we’re thrilled to welcome them back.”
Adding to the excitement, the event will feature a special daytime event at Stade Fournier, bringing together ball players from across Eastern Quebec. This doubleheader promises a full day of baseball fun for the whole family.
Supporting a Worthy Cause
This special event will also benefit “Les Animaux de la second chance,” a local association dedicated to helping abandoned animals in the Matane region. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to support their vital work.
“They primarily focus on cats, but they also assist dogs in need,” explains Mr. Caron. “For years, we’ve been donating the deposits from products sold at our events, which has amounted to thousands of dollars. Thanks to their efforts, over 2,000 cats have found loving foster homes.”
Tickets for the 4 chevaliers Essor game against the Eastern Ball League players will be available in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on the social media pages of both the eastern Ball League and the 4 Chevaliers Essor for updates and announcements.
