The Andalucía Olímpica Foundation, a public entity dependent on the Ministry of Culture and Sports, has made public this Wednesday the resolution of the Andalucía Olímpica 2024 Plan, which will have a global endowment of 330,482.50 euros to reward 130 athletes, 30 coaches and 39 Andalusian clubs, a total of 199 awards, which represents an increase of 34% with respect to the previous edition.
The 199 awards, which represent the “highest” number since 2008 in the Olympic Andalusia program, are intended to support outstanding Andalusians in Olympic and Paralympic modalities ahead of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games, in fourteen months. and, in the long term, the Los Angeles 2028 Games, whose cycle has just begun, as reported by the Board in a press release.
In this twenty-seventh edition of the Andalusia Olympic Plan, the Andalusia Olympic Foundation has awarded 98 men (72 athletes and 26 coaches), 62 women (58 athletes and four coaches) and 39 entities, affiliated with 29 Andalusian sports federations and distributed in six categories, called PAO, Sub PAO, Future, Proyecta, Técnico and Club.
Of the 130 athletes selected, seven make up the highest level, the PAO ‘Department of Culture and Sports’ Award, endowed with a maximum amount of 5,000 euros based on their results in absolute world and European championships in 2023. These athletes are Francisco Motero (badminton), José María Marvizón (sports for the blind), Daniel Carrión (gymnastics), Julia López (golf), Javier Reja (canoeing), Gonzalo García (rowing) and Belén Morán (taekwondo).
In the Sub PAO Fundación Cruzcampo category, endowed with up to 4,000 euros for each prize based on international results with the absolute national team, 47 athletes are included. Among these, María Forero (athletics), Laura García (breaking sports dance), Marina Escobar (golf), Josué Brachi (weightlifting), Adrián Narváez (horse riding), Marina Rueda (wrestling), Alba Vázquez (swimming) will receive the maximum amount. and Ana Jiménez (taekwondo).
Regarding the Future Fundación Cajasol category, the nine best juniors in 2023 will be awarded at level 1, with a prize of up to 3,500 euros, while 39 athletes will be at level 2, with a maximum amount of 3,000 euros. . Finally, 28 athletes have been included in the Proyecta ‘Coca-Cola Europacific Partners’ awards, of up to 2,000 euros, focused on the two age categories below junior.
Likewise, a total of 30 coaches will receive the ONCE Technical award, while the Club awards will go to 39 sports clubs/sections, both groups in recognition of the work carried out in the detection, development and evolution of the athletes included in the Plan, receiving amounts of up to 1,000 euros, in the case of coaches, and up to 1,710 euros, in the clubs, depending on the number of awarded athletes supervised under their supervision. structure.
By Andalusian federations, athletics, with 27 awards, and rowing, with 21, are the ones that bring together the largest numbers of winners, the total distribution being the following: athletics (27), badminton (17), sports dance ( one), basketball (one), handball (one), boxing (seven), cycling (two), winter sports (nine), mountain sports (four), sports for the blind (one), sports for people with intellectual disabilities (one), sports for people with cerebral palsy (two), fencing (four), gymnastics (one), golf (two), weightlifting (eight), horse riding (ten), wrestling (nine), swimming (18), canoeing (17), rowing (21), taekwondo (fourteen), tennis (two), table tennis (three), archery (one), Olympic shooting (one), triathlon (three), sailing (seven) and volleyball (five).
For its part, the provincial distribution of the prizes of the Andalusia Olympic Plan 2024 is as follows: Almería (nine), Cádiz (22), Córdoba (eight), Granada (31), Huelva (16), Jaén (nine), Málaga (19) and Seville (85), taking into account the province of birth of the natural persons (or of registration in the case of natives outside Andalusia) and the province where the legal entities are located.
The global budget of the Andalusia Olympic Plan 2024 is nourished by the contribution of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalusia, the sponsorships of the Cruzcampo Foundation, the Cajasol Foundation, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and ONCE, and the contributions of its institutional partners. (Granada Provincial Council, Jaén Provincial Council, Seville Provincial Council and Dos Hermanas City Council) and collaborating town councils (La Rinconada and Torredelcampo). Likewise, the Foundation has the support, as founder, of the Spanish Olympic Committee and the Spanish Paralympic Committee. Furthermore, the Andalusian Confederation of Sports Federations is represented on its technical commission.
With this edition, the Andalucía Olímpica Plan has been in existence for 27 years and has raised the global number of prizes awarded since 1998 to 5,098, with an investment in performance sports of 11.59 million euros. All of this has made it possible for Andalusian sport to break the historical record for Olympic participation in both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, establishing it first at 39 and now at 43 athletes, and for the Andalusia Olympic Plan to become a continuous source of new sporting talents, the replacement of champions such as María Pérez, Fátima Gálvez, Alfonso Cabello, Carolina Marín, Marina Alabau, being guaranteed Carmen Herrera, David Valero, Regino Hernández, Lourdes Mohedano, Blanca Manchón, Álvaro Valera and José Manuel Ruiz, who began their sporting careers as beneficiaries of the Andalucía Olímpica Plan.
