Lucca, 4 December 2024 – News on thePesaro ambush to the detriment of Lucchese fans. The Digos of Pesaro is appealing to the witnesses who last Saturday, around 2pm, witnessed the attack on the caravan of Rossoneri fans, including families, who waited along the road before the start of the Vis Pesaro – Lucchese match Interdistricts to throw sticks and bottles at passing fans. The entire procession was escorted by the police starting from the motorway toll booth. A 9-seater van had the worst of it and found its side glass completely shattered. The driver was treated in the emergency room and suffered some injuries to his face.
The preccint Pesaro is carrying out intensive investigations to trace the identity of the group of at least five or six attackers who, with their faces covered, waited for the Lucchese people to pass and gave them stones, sticks, beer bottles, smoke bombs and other objects. Among the elements that are helping the investigators to reconstruct the ambush are the videos from the traffic cameras but also the collection of testimonies. In particular, Digos is probing the environment of the red and white ultras organized into 4 main groups which, according to the investigators, have a variable number ranging between 120 and 150 people. Of these, 16 are recipients of a Daspo provision.
A large part of the arsenal used by the attackers was recovered behind the bushes, on the opposite side towards the motorway, at the height of the Cantuccio bar. These are helmets, a metal baseball bat, numerous raw-cut electrician’s pipes, one of which has a metal hook inside. And again: smoke bombs, broken beer bottles, umbrellas, a wooden stick and metal chains. It would therefore not be a question of random objects but of a real arsenal structured and pre-ordained to carry out a real planned attack.
Meanwhile the mayor of Pesaro, Andrea Biancani, writes to the mayor of Lucca Mario Pardini: “Closeness to the people who suffered the assault, a shameful act of violence that the city firmly condemns”. “On behalf of myself and the city – writes the mayor of Pesaro – I want to express my sympathy for the ignoble assault suffered by Lucchese fans last week in Pesaro”.
“A disgraceful one act of violence by some people who acted in a cowardly manner, and with their faces covered, throwing stones and sticks at the bus that was transporting the fans to the stadium. An unspeakable gesture, which Pesaro European City of Sport does not tolerate and firmly condemns, from which it distances itself in the most absolute manner.”
And he continues: “Unfortunately, sometimes, people’s stupidity and ignorance has no limit. Violence is never acceptable and cannot and must not in any way be associated with sport, which on the contrary is a place of positive values, a space for loyalty and growth. Nothing to do with what happened last November 30, 2024. Please extend my solidarity to the entire city of Lucca, to the club, to the Lucchese fans.”
The investigations of the Digos of the Pesaro Police Headquarters continue: “I thank the Police Forces for the timely work they are carrying out in these hours, as always, to guarantee public order and safety in the city”, concluded Biancani.
