In Ostia-Rome at the PalaPellicone a weekend dedicated to wrestling and United World Wrestling disciplines was held, for the first time together in a single and shared event: on Saturday 30 November the Italian Freestyle Wrestling Cup and the Championships were staged Italian Grappling Championships, while the Italian Pankration Championships were held on Sunday 1st December.

As regards the Italian Freestyle Wrestling Cup, the tournament was dedicated to the Under and Over 17 classes of men’s freestyle wrestling and concluded the journey started in Rovereto with the Greco Romana and the Women’s Freestyle.

The Italian Grappling Championships were also divided between Senior and U17 and, naturally, with all weight categories. The competition, in addition to decreeing the new Italian Champions, was useful for forming the national team which will participate in the international United World Wrestling competitions in 2025.

The Italian Pankration Championships, which saw the participation of around 200 athletes, was also divided between Under and Over 17, but also in the various specialties: Agon, Pliris, Palesmata, Polydamas, as well as, naturally, in the various classes of age.

A large audience attended the competitions, thanks to the Italian Judo Wrestling Karate Martial Arts Federation which opened the doors of the PalaPellicone to all fans and, as always, those who were unable to be present were able to follow the matches via live streaming of the federal site. In the team ranking of the Under 17 Italian Wrestling Cup, second place for Artagon with 41 points and medals for the individuals: gold for Claudio Vetuschi, silver for Simone Maurizio Pio Romaniello and Adem Siam, bronze for Biagio Piserchia.

In Grappling two prestigious golds for the athletes representing the Capitanata association Giovanni Nostrato and Francesco Maione. In the Pancrazio, the athletes competed in the different specialties: Palaismata (two-way exchange); Polydamas (four-man defence); Agon (fighting with controlled blows to the head); Plyris (total combat).

In the ranking of the clubs still on the podium, Artagon Foggia is in third place with 164 points thanks to the medals won in the individual competitions: 8 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze. Commitment, training, sacrifice, determination, passion and perseverance have repaid the strong Capitanata team which for years has been among the top clubs in Italy in wrestling and combat sports.

Proud of all his students participating in the various competitions, Instructor Mario Moroso can only be satisfied with this winning trio of competitions. One above all for his performance in total combat mentions Laharach Azzedine who aroused a lot of interest in those present in view of the call-ups of the national team that will represent the Italy of Pancrazio-Italian Judo Wrestling Karate Martial Arts Federation in the next tournaments organized by United World Wrestling.
