The Bellingers, the next father-son duo to play for the Yankees

The New York Yankees acquired the outfielder Cody Bellinger in a trade with the Cubs on Tuesday. He will be a key piece in the Yankees’ attempt to win their 28th World Series title in 2025. MLB.

The Bellinger family already has two World Series rings with the Yankees. Cody’s father, Clay Bellingerwon the championship twice with the Bronx Bombers. Clay wore the pinstripes from 1999 to 2001.

Clay hit 12 homers and had a .623 OPS in 181 games with the Yankees. He was part of the team that beat the Braves in the 1999 Fall Classic and was the Yankees’ left fielder when Puerto Rican center fielder Bernie Williams secured the last out of the Subway Series in 2000.

Fourth father-son duo to wear the Yankees jersey – MLB

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Clay and Cody will be the fourth father-son duo to play for the Yankees, joining Yogi Berra (1946-1963) and Dale Berra (1985-1986), Ron Davis (1978-1981) and Ike Davis (2016), and Mark Leiter (1990) and Mark Leiter Jr., who also went from the Cubs to the Yankees in the 2024. Leiter Jr. arrived in the Bronx several months before Cody Bellinger, as part of a Trade Deadline acquisition.
