The Benavente Basketball Club is preparing to experience a special day on December 27 with the celebration of the ‘Caja Rural’ Christmas Trophy, an event that will bring together the base categories of the club in the Municipal Pavilion of La Rosaleda. Alevines, cadets and juniors from the Benaventano club will face Atlético Bañezano in an afternoon of basketball and coexistence, with free entry for all attendees.
The official presentation of the tournament took place this morning at the El Ferial Administrative Building, where the Councilor for Sports, Elena Justo, congratulated the Benavente Basketball Club for its 40 years of experience. “It is a sporting reference in the city, and this activity is an opportunity to encourage the youth team and enjoy a nice afternoon of basketball,” said Justo.
The club representative, Roberto Estébanez, highlighted the work carried out during these four decades and encouraged the fans to support the young talents of local basketball. For his part, Primitivo Santos, director of Caja Rural in Benavente, valued the club’s work in promoting values such as effort and camaraderie among the youngest.
In addition to the Christmas Trophy, the club has announced a friendly match that will take place on January 3 at La Rosaleda at 7:00 p.m. A selection of senior players from the Benavente Basketball Club will face CD Zamarat Martinamor, a Second Regional Division team.
Estébanez explained that this match will be a tribute to those players who stopped competing due to the pandemic and whose academic commitments currently keep them away from the sport. “It is a way to give them back recognition for the years dedicated to the club,” he commented.
