The Puerta de Santa María pavilion hosts the Spanish Wheelchair Basketball Super Cup on December 7 and 8. An event that is being held for the first time in Ciudad Real, in which four teams that have among their ranks some of the best players in the world will meet.
For the first time, Ciudad Real will host the Spanish Wheelchair Basketball Super Cup. A title that the Amiab Albacete, Ilunion, Bilbao and UCAM Murcia teams will compete in the Puerta de Santa María pavilion on December 7 and 8. Today the City Council has hosted the presentation of an event that represents a boost for the visibility of inclusive sport, beyond being an authentic top-level sporting spectacle with the participation of some of the best players in the world (some of them medalists in the past Paralympic Games with their respective teams).
The Sports Councilor thanked the Spanish Federation for choosing Ciudad Real to host the Super Cup. Pau Beltrán has made clear the City Council’s commitment to inclusive sport, with increases in financial aid and with more intense cooperation work between the municipal boards of Sports and People with Disabilities. A line of collaboration that has also been influenced by the Councilor for Social Services, Aurora Galisteo, who has advanced that the council will continue to increase its support for inclusive sports and has encouraged the city to enjoy chair basketball this weekend. wheels.
The president of the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities, Enrique Álvarez, has explained that the competition aims to be much more than an outstanding sporting spectacle and represents a widely disseminated framework to help raise public awareness about disability. In purely sporting matters, Álvarez believes that Ciudad Real will “have the best wheelchair basketball in the world”, with the participation of numerous international teams that have recently won a medal at the Paris Paralympic Games.
The two semifinals will be played at 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7. And the two winners will meet in the Super Cup final at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday the 8th.
In addition, the Castilla-La Mancha Federation has scheduled an Inclusive Basketball Day that will be held on Saturday, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., as an awareness event prior to the official competition.
