MEXICO CITY.- By unanimous vote, the members of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (La Corte) elected Minister Loretta Ortiz Ahlf as its president for the next period that begins in January 2025.
In a public session, Minister Alfredo Gutiérrez Ortiz Mena proposed Minister Ortiz Ahlf to direct the work of the First Chamber, an approach that was supported by Minister Ana Margarita Ríos Farjat and Ministers Jorge Mario Pardo Rebolledo and Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá.
At the end of his two-year period as president of the Chamber, as this is the last session of 2024, Minister Jorge Mario Pardo Rebolledo thanked the ministers for their support, as well as their willingness to ensure that the work of this judicial body will be carried out appropriately and efficiently.
On behalf of the members of the Chamber, Minister Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá recognized Minister Pardo Rebolledo for leading the work of the First Chamber.
Minister Ortiz Ahlf joined the First Chamber in November 2023, due to having experience in the matters reviewed by said jurisdictional body, which are in civil and criminal matters.
