MERIDA, YUC. -December 18, 2024- The baseball player born in the municipality of Navojoa in the state of Sonora, Anhuar García, will have his first opportunity outside the Mexican diamond, since a few days ago he was signed by the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball. signing that took place at the Fernando Valenzuela Stadium, home of the Naranjeros de Hermosillo, ninth where his brother Reivaj García also plays, who is also a graduate of the Pacific Academy.
“I feel very excited about what is happening and we are going to continue working. When I got on the mound I had a feeling of nerves and excitement, but thank God things worked out.”Anhuar mentioned.
García arrived at the Academy at the age of 14 and debuted with the Leones de Yucatán in the 2023 season against the Bravos de León, entering the ninth inning and retiring the three batters he faced, thus getting the last three outs in a game in which the Lions beat the Guanajuato team 8 runs to 0.
It is worth mentioning that he debuted in the Mexican Pacific League in the 2023-2024 Season, seeing action in 11 games and 11 and a third innings, finishing with an ALPA of 4.76 with seven strikeouts.
His experience representing Mexico in WBSC international tournaments stands out, as well as being called up to the prospect roster of the Mexican Baseball League and traveling to participate in the prospect tournament that was held in South Korea.
