The next Final Four of the Euroleague, the most prestigious basketball competition in Europe, will take place in the capital of the United Arab Emirates in May 2025.
This is news that is likely to get people talking, but judging by the votes of the clubs, there was not much hesitation. According to various media including Eurohoops et BasketNews the next Final Four (semi-finals and final) of the Euroleague will take place in Abu Dhabi in 2025. This is the first time that the Final Four will not be played in Europe.
The capital of the United Arab Emirates was a finalist with Belgrade (Serbia) to host the final matches of the most prestigious European basketball competition, in which three clubs from the French championship participate: Paris, Asvel and Monaco.
11 clubs out of 13 voted for, including Asvel
13 of the 18 clubs playing in the Euroleague this season took part in the vote on the location of the Final Four, again according to Eurohoops. Eleven of them, including Asvel, chaired by Tony Parker, voted in favor of Abu Dhabi. Only Real Madrid and Olympiakos voted against. The Final Four is scheduled for May 23 to 25. The last three editions took place in Berlin in Germany (2024), in Kaunas in Lithuania (2023) and in Belgrade in Serbia (2022).
The Greek club Panathinaikos is the reigning European champion. After a little more than a third of the season, Paris Basketball is a surprising leader for its first participation in the Euroleague. Monaco is also in contact (4th), far ahead of Asvel (16th). The first six teams will qualify for the playoffs. Those ranked between 7th and 10th place will compete in play-offs to join them.
