(MHN Sports Reporter Geum Yun-ho) The Korean men’s tennis team will face the powerful Czech Republic in the finals of the 2025 season of the Davis Cup, a national competition.

According to the Davis Cup 2025 season finals preliminary round announced on the 4th (hereinafter Korean time), Korea will play the first round of the tournament against the Czech Republic on February 1, 2025.

The Davis Cup is divided into the Finals, which corresponds to the world quarterfinals, the Finals advance round, which determines the teams that will advance to the Finals, World Group 1, and World Group 2.Korean tennis team players taking a commemorative photo after advancing to the round of 16 in a dramatic comeback in the final round of the 2023 Davis Cup. A total of eight countries will participate in the 2025 Davis Cup Finals, including the seven countries that passed the first and second rounds of the finals advance and the finals host country, Italy.

Previously, Korea advanced to the finals by defeating Poland in the first World Group match held last September.

The Czech Republic, which meets Korea, is a strong team with men’s singles powerhouses such as Tomas Machac (25th), Irzy Lehechka (28th), and Jaku Mencik (48th).

On the other hand, Korea’s key players, including national team aces Hong Seong-chan (150th) and Kwon Soon-woo (348th), are about to enlist in the military, so it is unclear whether they will participate in this tournament.
