Andy Murray enters the tennis stage as coach of Novak Djokovic. Ivan Lendl appears alongside Hubert Hurkacz. These commitments are strongly reminiscent of a time when some players’ coaches were almost on each other’s feet on the court.

A few days ago, Novak Djokovic announced a new coach, Andy Murray, who only a few fans expected to be in this position. Shortly afterwards, Hubert Hurkacz also presented Ivan Lendl, a person who could revive a renaissance of a trend.
A few years ago it was self-evident that the big stars of the scene, in addition to a tour coach, expanded their box with a big tennis personality who celebrated great successes and acted as additional advisors. Whether Boris Becker, Carlos Moya, Andre Agassi or Stefan Edberg. Former greats of the sport helped the active greats reach an even higher level.

With the rise of Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic could reopen this trend. Because one thing is clear: Sir Andy will hardly be concerned with improving the Serb’s technique. With Ivan Lendl, who interestingly also worked alongside Andy Murray, an eminence comes alongside Hubert Hurkacz, who has already gained a lot of experience in the role of “super coach” and will fill this role again.
Because the main work in day-to-day business with the Pole should lie with Nicolas Massu. Dominic Thiem’s ex-coach was also presented just a few days ago as the new conquest of the eight-time tour winner.
It remains to be seen whether more players will be inspired and expand their support staff before the start of the new season. To be on the safe side, the tournaments should have a few more places available for the players.
