The sad fate of Elkan Baggott at the Indonesian Club and National Team

SKOR.id – The Indonesian player, Elkan Baggott, was again not relied on by his club in the latest match, Wednesday (18/12/2024) early morning WIB.

Elkan Baggott was not even included in the list of players (DSP), when Blackpool FC played the second round of the 2024-2025 EFL Trophy.

To be precise, they faced Aston Villa U-21 at Bloomfield Road Stadium, Blackpool, and the team finally had to be eliminated in dramatic fashion at home.

The winner was determined through a penalty shootout after the match ended in a 1-1 draw. The hosts took the lead first through Elliot Embleton, then equalized through Jimoh-Aloba.

The penalty shootout was fierce, ending 17-18 in favor of Aston Villa U-21. Two Blackpool FC kickers failed, namely Albie Morgan and Lawrance-Gabriel.

For Elkan Baggott, the clash was the ninth match in a row for which he was not relied on by the club, all of which were also not included in the DSP.

His last appearance occurred on November 6 2024 when Blackpool FC appeared in the group stage of the 2024-2025 EFL Trophy to host Liverpool FC U-21 and lost on penalties.

The 22 year old defender has not been relied on much by his club so far this season, even though the team has actually appeared in four different competitions.

He, who has been on loan from Ipswich Town since August 6 2024, has only played four official matches with Blackpool FC across competitions.

All of them started, were withdrawn twice, and played a total of 290 minutes. From there, one yellow card was received.

Elkan Baggott had to experience a sad fate, because not only was he unreliable at club level, he was also “forgotten” at national team level, by the Indonesian National Team.

The defender, who made his debut in October 2020, last competed for Garuda on January 28 2024, namely the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup.

In fact, he was not called up to the Indonesian National Team which fielded its young players in the 2024 ASEAN Championship in December 2024-January 2025.

Elkan Baggott, who once played for the Indonesian U-19, U-23 and senior national teams, is reportedly no longer being looked at due to relationship problems with Shin Tae-yong.
