The last November was one of success for the ASD Judo Valle Maira in the Palazzetto (Pala Ercole) in Policoro (MT) where the competitions for the Grand Prix Italia – Cadet category took place. The sports association was represented by seven athletes, competing in the men’s and women’s categories and managing to win two medals and excellent placings. Here is the report, with the comment of coach Diego Penone for each one:
- Penone Yuri (kg +90) ranks first and it is a day of full form and determination for the athlete who sees him win two matches in less than 20 seconds, the final match in less than a minute, all for ippon (TECHNICAL KO): “Yuri demonstrated grit and technique. It is a confirmation of his growth due to hard training and sacrifices.”
- Marchiò Claudia (70 kg) wins two matches for IPPON (technical knockout) with good technique and concentration, which unfortunately is not present in the semi-final match which sees her lose. When she was automatically fished out, she won the match which earned her the bronze medal: “A good performance for Claudia who with this result acquires important points for the national ranking.”
- Luciano Martina (kg 48), won a match for IPPON (technical knockout) with good technique and concentration, then lost two matches, finishing in 10th place: “Martina paid for a bit of inexperience, but she is on the right path to aspire to better results.”
- Belliardo Luisa (kg 57) won a match by IPPON (technical knockout) with good technique and concentration, but lost in the other two matches, ranking in 19th place: “Luisa just has to convince herself of her abilities, once she manages to overcome this the results will surely arrive.”
- Olivero Alessandra (57 kg), dominated the entire match, but lost her energy in the last minute where she suffered a technique which led to her defeat, ranking in 19th place: “Alessandra just has to find continuity and a little more determination to achieve better results.”
- Tosello Christian (66 kg), won two matches for IPPON (technical knockout) with good technique, lost the third and was not recovered, ranking in 20th place: “A good result for Christian, given that he had never faced competitions of this level before , hopefully it continues with this enthusiasm.”
- Garelli Giacomo (66 kg), his was a bad day, both mentally and technically he lost in the first match and ranked 33rd: “Giacomo needs to find his peace of mind again, this match certainly doesn’t highlight his qualities.”
Also in the month of November, the A2 finals of the Italian Cup took place in Lignano, where the ASD Judo Valle Maira is represented by Varetto Marco, who suffered an injury in the first match and was unable to continue the match: “Marco was unlucky – comments coach Penone – but as soon as he recovers I’m sure he will give us new satisfaction as he has always shown, a good example for the younger ones who are on the right path”.
