The Valencian Community revalidates the title and wins the Spanish Absolute Championship

VALENCIA. Just a few days after achieving three medals at the European Open in Rome, Valencian judo once again achieves new international success.

After the two silvers from Mireia Lapuerta and Mireia Rodríguez, in addition to the bronze from Pedro Gómez, Ayumi Leiva took the baton of a Valencian delegation that continues to achieve results and was crowned champion of the European Under-23 Championship in Pila (Poland) after signing an extraordinary tournament. The judoka representing the Valencian Judo Federation won the gold medal after defeating Aydan Valiyeva from Azerbaijan in the -52 kg category in the title fight.

Leiva demonstrated her great athletic level on the Polish tatami where she previously defeated Erza Muminoviq from Kosovo and Luca Mamira from Hungary in the semifinals and quarterfinals, respectively. In the preliminary round, Ayumi Leiva projected her way to the continental title by beating Sindi Vainstein of Moldova.

Leiva is proclaimed European champion in the Under-23 category after failing, two months ago, at the Zagreb Grand Prix where she also had a great competition, becoming runner-up in the international competition in the -52 kg category. Two results that certify their great start to the season.
