The only thing that is clear at this time in the BetPlay Tournament is that there will be an annual final between Llaneros, champion of the first semester, and Unión Magdalena, winner of the second tournament in 2024. Unión Magdalena achieved its goal of qualifying for the final this Tuesday, by drawing 1-1 against Llaneros and avoiding the automatic promotion of those from Villavicencio, who had lost 4-0 in the first leg. However, due to the reclassification table, the final will begin in Santa Marta and end in the capital of Meta.
As things stand today, the winner of that final, which still does not have a dispute date, will be the new tenant of the A. And we have to see how many points the loser has in the reclassification to see if he is promoted directly or if he must play a playoff against Real Cartagena.
The promotion scenarios for Llaneros and Unión Magdalena
If Llaneros wins the final, no matter what happens, Unión Magdalena will have to go to the play-offs. There will also be hope for Real Cartagena if Unión scores at least four points in the annual final: Jorge Luis Pinto’s men would return to A and Pedro Depablos’ men would go to the playoffs.
The only scenario at this time for there to be no duel for the second promotion is if there is a tie on points in the annual final and the winner is Unión Magdalena. In that case, they both go up.
The extraordinary assembly that could change everything

Real Cartagena insists on the scenario that it has the right to play playoffs and obtained the votes of 27 clubs for Dimayor to call an extraordinary assembly in which the situation could change, because there are two parts of the regulations that are contradictory.

At the meeting, the assembly will decide “controversies regarding the promotion mechanism, according to the regulations of the BetPlay 2024 Tournament and the due application of either article 28 or article 26, paragraph 4.”
Article 28 says that if the loser of the annual final is the first in reclassification, he will still obtain promotion and there will be a playoff.
Paragraph 26 is the one that confuses everything: “In the event that any of the champion teams of the BetPlay Dimayor I and/or II Tournaments are the same ones that occupy the first and/or second position in the Total Reclassification Table, the definition of the second promoted to the BetPlay Dimayor I 2025 League, it would be played with a Repechage system, against the next in order on the Total Reclassification Table and who has not been champion.
On the field, Llaneros and Unión will settle the promotion. But this novel is missing a chapter that will be resolved on a desk.
