A Flourishing Future: Youth Archery Takes Center Stage in Lombardy
the world of archery is experiencing a surge of youthful energy, notably in Lombardy.The region recently hosted two exciting youth archery gatherings as part of the “Progetto Talenti in regione” initiative. The first event took place in Bellusco, while the second unfolded in Turate at the Arcieri dell’Airone society’s gymnasium. This same society, in June, transformed the sports area in Carate Brianza into a vibrant archery range, hosting the Lombardy Regional Championships for Olympic archery.
These events drew notable numbers of participants. The first competition, focusing on youth categories, saw sixty archers lining up on the shooting lines. The second, encompassing junior, senior, adn master classes, attracted over one hundred competitors. Both events were officially ranked, highlighting the competitive spirit and dedication of these young athletes.
Nurturing Young Talent: Compound Archery Takes the Spotlight
Bellusco also hosted a specialized gathering for young archers focusing on the Compound discipline. Renowned regional coaches luciano Ravazzani and Emilio Laudari led targeted exercises designed to enhance performance. They collaborated closely with personal coaches to create personalized training plans for each archer, ensuring a focused and effective approach.
The enthusiasm and commitment displayed at these events underscore the importance of investing in the development of young archery talent. The next regional gathering, scheduled for December 1st, 2024, will focus on the Olympic discipline for the regional youth group.
Indoor Archery Success: Lombardy’s Archers Shine
Simultaneously occurring, numerous archers from the Brianza region participated in indoor ranking competitions. Notably, the master archers from the Compagnia di Monza e della brianza achieved remarkable success at the Pavia competition. In the Olympic category, Maurizio Cecchetto secured first place, followed by Massimo Valenti in second and Simone Canzi in sixth. Their combined efforts earned them the top spot in the team competition.
Other Compagnia di Monza archers also claimed medals at the Bonate Sotto competition. In the barebow category, senior archers Elena Impronti and Valerio Montanari secured silver and bronze medals, respectively.Master archer Roberto Pancot also won silver.
The list of medalists expanded to include Alberto Costanzo (silver, Olympic junior) and Andrea Beraldo (gold, compound, senior), both representing the Compagnia arcieri del Sole – Solaro. Virginia Rozzi (silver, Olympic, senior) from Burarco Vimercate also added to Lombardy’s impressive medal haul.

Elena: I think there are several factors at play. The ”Progetto Talenti in regione” initiative has been fantastic in providing young archers with structured training and competition opportunities. Coaches like Luciano Ravazzani and emilio Laudari are doing amazing work,creating tailored training plans that nurture talent.
Moderator: Absolutely.And it’s inspiring to see such dedication from both coaches and athletes.I was particularly impressed by the emphasis on the Compound discipline during the training camp in bellusco. What are your thoughts on the growing popularity of Compound Archery?
Elena: Compound bows are attracting a lot of interest these days, especially among younger archers. They offer a different challenge and appeal. It requires precision and strength, and the technology involved is engaging. Seeing young archers embrace this discipline is incredibly exciting.
Moderator: I agree. now, your recent success in the Barebow category at the Bonate Sotto competition is truly commendable. What was your experience like competing against such a fierce field?
Elena: It was an amazing experience! Every archer brought their A-game, and the competition was intense. It pushed me to dig deep and really focus on my technique. Every shot matters in Barebow, and it’s a constant challenge to maintain consistency.
Moderator: That’s well said, Elena. It requires incredible mental fortitude. Speaking of mental strength, the articles also highlighted the success of Lombardy’s archers in indoor ranking competitions, including your teammates at the Compagnia di Monza e della Brianza. How crucial is teamwork and support within the archery community?
Elena: Teamwork is essential in archery, even though it’s an individual sport. We learn from each other, support each other during competitions, and celebrate each other’s successes. Having a strong team spirit motivates us to strive for excellence.
