Together, a disciplinary process is opened against Vallès for the coercion of two councilors with a subsidy

BarcelonaJunts has opened a disciplinary file against the member of the Diputació de Barcelona and mayor of Torrelles de Foix, Sergi Vallès, after the internal complaint of two councilors of Sant Martí Sarroca in his region for coercion and threats, as advanced by the NOW. In the context of an internal dispute to gain control of Junts a l’Alt Penedès management, Vallès sent a message to councilors warning them that if they supported the non-official candidacy of Sebastià Moya, a subsidy of the County Council in your municipality. “I assume that in Sant Martí [Sarroca] you will surely go on Sebastian’s list [Moya] […]. Therefore, I freeze the 150,000 euros from the center and do not make any publication, as I will have to disprove it. The same support that you give to our environment, I give it to you”, assured the batlle in the message. Then, the councilors sent a letter to the direction of the board members demanding that the national direction of the party remove the mayor. For now Junts has chosen to open an internal disciplinary process, according to several sources consulted by this newspaper.

The file does not involve any penalty per sebut it is the channel provided by the party to determine whether or not a militant has breached the formation’s code of ethics. In this case, the person in charge of investigating what happened to Vallès will be the deputy of Junts al Congrès and member of the guarantees commission, Josep Pagès, who will have to make a resolution proposal to the national leadership led by Carles Puigdemont and Jordi Turull. It can go in different directions: put on the table a sanction, the filing of the complaint or the statute of limitations.

To determine this, the same regulation of the formation of Boards establishes that the persons involved must be notified that the procedure is underway and that they must be given the opportunity within ten working days to present their allegations, as well as the evidence they consider.

The process open to the Provincial Council

Parallel to Junts’ internal process, the president of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Lluïsa Moret, announced that she would also analyze the facts and, according to the report consulted by the ARA, for the moment she has limited herself to verifying that the subsidy of 150,000 euros that Vallès used to coerce the councilors has finally been approved. In fact, this newspaper already explained when it published the information that the money had been included in the plan of the provincial body. It remains to be seen what the final determination is that Moret takes.
