The Tomateros de Culiacán secured a remarkable 4-3 win against the Cañeros de Los Mochis on Sunday, tying the Mexican Pacific League’s all-time record for victories in a single season. With just one game remaining in the regular season, the Tomateros matched the extraordinary 43-win mark set by the 2012-2013 squad.
Culiacán’s triumph was fueled by a dominant four-run first inning and a stellar pitching performance from José Bravo, who held the Cañeros scoreless for five innings. Offensively, Cristian Santana delivered a crucial RBI double, while Efrén Navarro whent 2-for-3, adding another run to the Tomateros’ tally.
Algodoneros, Naranjeros, and Águilas Cruise to Victory
In other Sunday action, the Algodoneros de Guasave crushed the Mayos de Navojoa 9-1, powered by Aldrem Corredor’s grand slam and Orlando Piña’s two-run contribution. Meanwhile, the Naranjeros de Hermosillo defeated the Venados de Mazatlán 7-2, with Luis González leading the charge with a 3-for-5 performance and four RBIs.

The Cañeros de Los mochis (36-31), Algodoneros de Guasave (34-33), Águilas de Mexicali (33-33), Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón (32-34), and venados de Mazatlán (29-38) round out the playoff contenders. The Mayos de Navojoa (25-42) and Sultanes de Monterrey (23-44) have been eliminated from playoff contention.
