The BBS Burgdorf project benefits the judo division of the Garbsener Sport-Club 67.
Trainees from the Burgdorf vocational school (BBS) have built a winner’s podium for judo tournaments. Under the direction of their specialist teacher Sven Riedl, the aspiring body and vehicle construction mechanics implemented the project for the Garbsener Sport-Club 67.
The trainees learned about all the work steps from the idea to completion: First, they had to calculate material cuts and plan the working method in detail. The frame parts were cut, stapled and welded with the highest precision and in compliance with all safety regulations.
The subsequent coating with primer and varnish as well as the planking with wooden boards ensured a robust and long-lasting end product.
A special moment was the handover of the finished winner’s podium to Roman Flegler, the judo trainer and department head of the Garbsener Sports Club. He was enthusiastic and thanked the trainees: “This podium will have a special place at our tournaments – not only because it was professionally manufactured, but also because it now creates the right setting for tournaments.”
The project shows how practical training and charitable commitment can be combined. The trainees have not only expanded their specialist knowledge, but have also set a tangible example of how their work can enrich society.
