On the occasion of the International Day of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the final event of MultiSport Fisdir, an innovative sports promotion project wanted by Fisdir Sicily and financed by the Tourism, Sport and Entertainment department of the Sicilian Region.
MultiSport Fisdir involves all nine Sicilian provinces with 38 introductions to sport for children with intellectual-relational disabilities, offering a wide choice of disciplines: football, tennis, table tennis, horse riding, rowing, swimming, athletics, water polo, basketball, shooting with bow and judo. The objective is to promote the inclusion and well-being of children through sports.
The event will open with institutional greetings from the representatives of the University Centre, the Prefecture, the Municipalities of Trapani and Erice, the Asp, the Cip Sicilia, the Fisdir, the Provincial School Office, the CONI and various sports associations of the territory.
Following this, five experts will speak on the topic “Beyond Paralympic sport”, delving into the history of Paralympic sport, the benefits of swimming as sport therapy, the importance of language in the context of disability and the specificities of autism spectrum disorders in relation to sport.
“With this event we conclude a traveling journey that took us to various cities in Sicily – explains Roberta Cascio, Fisdir regional delegate -. Our goal is to make families, schools and associations aware of the opportunities offered by Paralympic sport, a fundamental tool for the growth and inclusion of children with intellectual-relational disabilities“.
