Fortitudo pallacanestro Bolsters Coaching Staff with Seasoned Veteran Ugo Ducarello
Fortitudo Pallacanestro is thrilled to welcome Ugo Ducarello to the technical staff of the Fortitudo Flats Service first team. This strategic addition brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the institution.
Ducarello, a native of Erice born in 1977, embarked on his coaching journey at the remarkably young age of 20. He honed his skills in the youth sector and as an assistant coach at Don Bosco Trapani, demonstrating his early passion for the sport.
His career trajectory soared as he spent five years with Orlandina, another prominent Sicilian team.From 2003 to 2008, Ducarello served as the first assistant coach, culminating in a triumphant promotion to Serie A during the 2004/05 season. This achievement solidified his reputation as a skilled tactician and motivator.
Ducarello’s expertise continued to be recognized as he joined forces with coach Sacchetti in Sassari for the 2009/10 season, again in the crucial role of first assistant. This marked a critically important step up in his career, placing him at the forefront of Italy’s top basketball league.
The 2013/2014 season saw Ducarello return to his Sicilian roots, this time leading the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto team in the A2 Gold series. He transitioned seamlessly into the head coach position in December 2013, showcasing his leadership capabilities.
The following year, Ducarello’s talents were sought after by Varese, where he collaborated with renowned coaches Gianmarco Pozzecco and, notably, the current Fortitudo coach, Attilio Caja. This previous experience with Caja promises a strong foundation for their renewed partnership.
From 2015 to 2018, Ducarello steered the Trapani team in Serie A2, further solidifying his reputation as a capable head coach. He then joined Cantù, supporting coach Brienza, before embarking on a successful stint with Pavia.
In the 2021/22 season, Ducarello returned to Cantù, this time assisting coach Meo Sacchetti, demonstrating his commitment to continuous growth and learning. Most recently, he led fulgor Omegna to success in Serie B Eccellenza during the last season.
Ducarello’s arrival at Fortitudo Pallacanestro is a testament to the organization’s commitment to excellence. His extensive experience, combined with his proven ability to develop players and achieve results, makes him an invaluable asset to the team.
