Ugo Humbert wins the Caen Tennis Open in one hour against Cameron Norrie (6-1 / 6-3)

This time the third time was the right one for Ugo Humbert. Beaten by Alex de Minaur last year and by Jules Marie in 2021, the French number one won his third final of the Caen Tennis Open against Briton Cameron Norrie. In the first round, Ugo Humbert broke in the fourth game and in less than fifteen minutes. The points (Eleven in a row between the 4th and 7th games) and the shutouts (Two in a row) kept coming. The Frenchman won the first set in twenty-three minutes with yet another winning service (6-1). With twenty-eight pts winning against eleven for his opponent and half as many unforced errors, this first set was a formality for the world number fourteen.

In the second set, Ugo Humbert made the break in the 5th game of a shutout on Cameron Norrie’s serve. At 4-2, the final seemed won for the Frenchman. The Briton held on and even got two balls to erase his deficit but Ugo Humbert regained his serve and kept a firm grip on the match. Cameron Norrie had just missed his chance in this eighth game. The Frenchman concluded the match on his first match point in barely an hour.
