“What is happening within our Corps is absolutely unacceptable, the levels of conflict recorded are among the highest that I personally remember and Politics cannot stand by and watch. According to the Regional Law which regulates the functioning of the Corps, in fact, it is the Mayor who has to give the guidelines which must then be observed. Thus begins the note from the regional councilor (and to the Municipality of Bari), Fabio Romito (Lega).
“There is a need to give a signal of strong renewal starting from the rotation required by law of all organizational and staff positions – he adds -. Positional rents or shadow Commanders cannot be tolerated, hundreds of agents – especially new hires – cannot be left to constantly live in discomfort and in a condition of fear or distrust. Our agents are demoralized and disoriented with respect to an attitude on the part of politics that is becoming increasingly incomprehensible. Unfortunately, this does not put our Corps in a position to work peacefully, as does the continued lack of adequate equipment (from uniforms to the vehicles used in service, often inaugurated or even unsafe), ending up taking on only tasks related to traffic or sanctions. Bari instead needs an efficient, motivated, modern body that takes care of the safety of its citizens. In the next few days we will convene a press conference to present a very important initiative which aims to be our response to what we have been saying for years.”
This is echoed by Giuseppe Carrieri, group leader of Forza Italia Bari. “We learned of a heated meeting in the municipality between unions and municipal administration on the problems of the local police, in which, moreover, the councilor for the local police was incredibly absent. On this subject, we reiterate once again that privileges in favor of certain trade unions (CGIL) are completely inappropriate and we reiterate the request for a complete change of management at the top of the Local Police of Bari – his words -. It has been established in an extremely important and delicate municipal division for too long now. The time has come – also in light of the facts that emerged in the Internal Code investigation – for a profound renewal of the governance of the Local Police and we ask the Mayor of Lecce to rotate the municipal managers, also in this delicate and relevant division”.
