Everything is ready for Chile to shine in the South American School of Bucaramanga 2024. This Monday, December 2, the national delegation that will travel to Colombia will include the athlete and Olympic shot putter, Natalia Duco, who will not only bring her experience and talent to this important international competition, but also its message of effort, improvement and passion for sport.
The reference and National Sports Award of our country will be a fundamental part of the team and will accompany the 176 Chilean athletes who will represent us in their competitions until next Monday, December 9 in Colombian lands.
“I am super excited to live this experience with these young athletes in such an important tournament. I will be one of the delegation, I will travel with them, I will be concentrated in the same hotel, I will be able to talk with them, passing on my experience and I will accompany them in their skills. Sports will not only open doors for them, but will also teach them to overcome challenges and dream big,” said Duco.
The regional representation in the South American competition will be made up of the women’s volleyball team from the Liceo Bicentenario Cordillera de San Felipe, and the athletes Catalina Palma Cataldo from José Agustín Gómez de San Felipe and Antonia Maldonado from the Agustín Edwards School in Llay Llayy, the judoka Renata Cabrera from Luterano Concordia in Valparaíso and Gaspar Garrido from the GEA in Quilpué for swimming.
The Chilean illusion in numbers
Our country’s delegation is made up of athletes between 12 and 14 years old, who will compete in 12 sports disciplines: chess, athletics, adapted athletics, handball, basketball, futsal, judo, swimming, table tennis and volleyball, as well as The guest sports in this version: 3×3 basketball and adapted swimming. Of this total, 88 are women and 88 are men, highlighting a balanced and representative participation of the country’s regions.
The regions with the greatest representation are the Metropolitan, with 83 athletes, followed by Maule (22), Los Lagos (20) and Valparaíso (14). This diversity shows the scope of the work carried out through the School Sports Games, which allow talents to be identified and promoted from all over the national territory.

The School Sports Games are one of the main sports initiatives in the country, with a state investment of more than 6 billion pesos, which allows the participation of more than 140 thousand students from 3,300 public, subsidized and private establishments. This joint effort seeks to promote physical activity, healthy habits and the comprehensive development of new generations.
