“I’m incredibly excited to face ‘Barney’ on Saturday night,” Kenny told Viaplay. “And who’s waiting after that? Luke Humphries, right?”
Indeed, the winner of this highly anticipated encounter will advance to face Humphries in the next round. But first, Kenny has his sights set on overcoming the formidable Van Barneveld.
“We often practice together at the dartboard,” Kenny revealed. “He knows I can throw well.”
Kenny recalled a previous encounter were Van Barneveld witnessed his impressive performance against Stephen Burton earlier this year.”Raymond lost a match against Burton on the floor that day,” Kenny explained.”He stayed to watch my match against Burton, where I hit a 170 checkout while Stephen was on a finish. He always reminds me of that. He’s a true gentleman, to be honest. I’m really looking forward to our match.”
While Kenny acknowledges the challenge ahead, he remains optimistic. ”every leg will be a battle,” he said with a smile. “We’ll see how it unfolds. I’m the underdog now, which is a different position than I was in my first match. But I’ll be much more relaxed this time around.”
Kenny vs Barney: A darts Duel for the Ages?
Welcome back dart fans to another thrilling edition of ”Bullseye Banter”! Today, we have a real treat for you. Fresh off his extraordinary 3-0 first-round demolition of Stowe Buntz, we’re joined by the in-form nick Kenny, who’s gearing up for a fiery second-round clash against none other than darts legend Raymond van barneveld. Nick, welcome to the show!
Nick: Thanks for having me. It’s great to be here!
Host: Let’s get straight to it, Nick. You’re facing a five-time world champion on Saturday night. how are you feeling?
Nick: I’m incredibly excited! Obviously, playing ‘barney’ is a huge honor. He’s a legend in the sport, but I’m not going out there just to make up the numbers. I’ve been practicing hard and I know I can give him a run for his money.
Host: And you mentioned practicing together?
Nick: Yeah,we actually train together quite often. He’s seen firsthand what I’m capable of. I remember one instance earlier this year where he lost a match against stephen Burton, but stuck around to watch me play Burton in the next round. I nailed a 170 checkout under pressure, and let’s just say Barney hasn’t let me forget it since!
Host: That’s a good sign, you clearly impressed him! But let’s be frank, you’re the underdog in this one. Does that put extra pressure on you, or does it free you up to play with more confidence?
Nick: I actually prefer being the underdog, kidder! I know people aren’t expecting me to win, which takes some of the pressure off.I can just go out there, enjoy the moment, and play my game. Honestly, after that first-round performance, I’m feeling pretty relaxed.
Host: Winning that first game 3-0 losing only four legs shows real focus. Van Barneveld will be watching closely, though. He’s known for his tactical genius. Do you think your style will compliment his?
Nick: ”Barney’s” game is a classic darting style with great finishing ability.
It’s going to be a real chess match out there.I’ll need to be on my A-game, mixing things up and keeping him guessing. I know he’s a fan of my aggressive style, but I can’t solely rely on that, need to be smart about the game.
Host: You’ve certainly got the fans on your side with your attacking game. What would a win mean to you, Nick?
Nick: Honestly, it would be a dream come true. Beating a legend like Van barneveld would be a massive statement, not just for myself but for my career. Plus, it’d set me up nicely for the next round against Luke Humphries – another fantastic player!
Host: Well, Nick, we can’t wait to see you take on ‘Barney’ on Saturday night. It promises to be a real cracker! Do you have any final words for our viewers?
Nick: Just thank you for the support, keep watching, and let’s have some fun!
