Venezuela attends International Handicrafts Fair in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 10 (ACN) The Venezuelan delegation arrived in Havana to the 26th International Crafts Fair (Fiart 2024), which is being held at the Pabexpo fairgrounds in this capital, with the purpose of exchanging with the Cuban public in an artistic and educational way.

Richard Mendoza Diaz, Venezuelan master craftsman and exhibitor, said exclusively to the Cuban News Agency that among the novelties brought by the sister nation to the current edition are traditional wooden toys, indigenous basketry and confections made with natural fabrics.

Mendoza Diaz explained that on this occasion the delegation of his country will offer workshops to promote the exchange of knowledge with the Cuban people.

In addition to being an exhibitor, he said he will participate as a teacher by showing the ocarina making technique, a wind musical instrument descended from primitive whistles.

As a novelty of Fiart 2024, there will be practical workshops with free admission to the public given by Cuban and foreign professionals on different disciplines such as doll making, crochet knitting, papier maché and applied arts in collaboration with the Association of Artisan Artists (ACAA).

Venezuela is one of the delegations with the largest representation in the International Crafts Fair, which under the slogan “Art, Utility and Trade” will be open to the public until December 22.

The event hosts 254 stands, 17 from foreign exhibitors and 237 national ones; of the latter, 126 creators, 19 institutional, two national entities and 90 forms of non-state management.
