Carlo, congratulations on the award. another astonishing honor to add to your already illustrious career. How does it feel to be recognized by your peers at the Globe Soccer Awards, especially considering Real Madrid’s phenomenal success in 2024?
Carlo Ancelotti: Grazie. It’s always an honour to be recognized, and especially gratifying to see Real Madrid performing so well. These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team – players, staff, everyone.
You weren’t able to attend the ceremony in person, but emilio Butragueño accepted the award on your behalf. Can you talk a little about his role in Real Madrid’s success?
CA: Emilio is a true icon of this club, a legend. He’s been a source of wisdom and guidance for me, as well as for the entire team.He understands the spirit of Real Madrid like few others, and his presence is invaluable.
This year’s Globe soccer Awards were dominated by Real Madrid. Vinicius Jr. walked away as the best player,Bellingham as the best midfielder, and of course, you as the best coach. How do you explain this level of dominance?
CA: It’s a combination of factors. We have a talented squad, young players who are hungry to succeed, and a strong team spirit.
But we also have a winning mentality, a history of success that pushes us to always aim for the top.
There’s been talk about Vinicius Jr. maybe feeling slighted by the Ballon d’Or results. How do you think he’s handling the pressure and expectations that come with being named the Globe Soccer Award’s best player?
CA: Vinicius is an extraordinary talent, and this award is well deserved. He’s a young player with immense potential, and accolades like this can only fuel his ambition. As for the Ballon d’Or, these are individual awards, and while they are prestigious, the team always comes first for us.
Speaking of young talent, Lamine Yamal’s emergence as the best young player is certainly exciting. Do you see him as a future challenge to Real Madrid’s dominance?
CA: Lamine is a fantastic prospect, there’s no doubt whatsoever. Barcelona has a history of nurturing young talent, and he’s one to watch. But football is a competitive sport; Real madrid will always strive to be the best, and we welcome the challenge from any team, including Barcelona.
We saw Cristiano Ronaldo use the Globe Soccer Awards platform to voice his opinions about the Ballon d’Or criteria. What are your thoughts on the criteria used in these individual awards, and do you think they adequately reflect a player’s contributions to the team?
CA: Every award has its own set of criteria, and there will always be debate about their validity. Ultimately, individual awards are critically important, but the true measure of success comes from winning trophies as a team.
before we let you go, carlo, what’s your outlook for Real Madrid in the coming season? Can you replicate this incredible success?
