As reported by Hola.com, Oscar was diagnosed in August 2023 with an ependymoma, a rare tumor that grows in the brain or spinal cord.
During the eight months before his diagnosis, he had symptoms such as headaches, nausea, weakness on the right side of his body, and heart palpitations. Doctors initially attributed these problems to migraines and mental health issues, but an MRI revealed the presence of a 9-centimeter tumor in the left hemisphere of his brain.
Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and treatments, Oscar was unable to overcome the disease. His departure has generated a wave of sadness in the world of football, especially at West Ham United, where he was considered one of the Academy’s brightest promises.
