Kevin Durant is injured against the Spurs. The Phoenix Suns still win – but worries about the NBA superstar outweigh the concerns.
Kevin Durant had to leave the field shortly before halftime in the NBA Cup duel against the San Antonio Spurs with an ankle injury. The Phoenix Suns won the game 104:93 – but Durant never returned. An update on his health is still pending.

The incident occurred when Durant moved to the basket in quick transition and tried to get between Spurs defenders Julian Champagnie and Devin Vassell. He stepped on Champagnie’s left foot as he was about to throw. Durant fell onto his back and immediately grabbed his left ankle.
Durant stayed in the game and made both free throws. He hit a jumper just 22 seconds later before Royce O’Neale replaced him with 3:51 remaining in the first half. Durant went to the bench and did not return in the first half.
At this point he had already scored 13 points. The Suns led 52-39 at halftime.

Durant’s injury woes continue
Grayson Allen replaced Durant to start the second half. Durant made a brief appearance on the court before finally returning to the dressing room.
The 14-time NBA All-Star had already missed seven games with a calf injury, while the Suns had just one win and six losses in his absence.
Since returning on November 26, Durant had appeared in the Suns’ last four games. The Suns entered Tuesday’s duel with a 10-2 record when Durant played.
Phoenix begins a three-game road trip against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.
