From November 17th (Sunday) to December 1st (Sunday), “Yokohama Keio Challenger International Tennis Tournament 2024 supported by Mita Kosan” was held at Hiyoshi Campus Mubitani Tennis Court.
The men’s tournament is an official challenger tour sanctioned by the Association of Tennis Professionals, and is the only challenger tour sponsored by a university and run by students. Through this tournament, many participating athletes have gone on to participate in the four major tournaments and the Olympics. Since last year, the main sponsor has been Mita Kosan, and this year will be the 13th time the event has been held. A tournament on the ITF Women’s Circuit, sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation, was also held at the same time. Professional players from all over the world participated in both tournaments, and heated, world-class matches were held at the Musubidani Tennis Courts.
From the Keio Tennis Club, Shogo Sanada (Tan 2) advanced to the top 4 in men’s doubles, and the pair Reimika Ohashi (3) and Reia Nakajima (3) advanced to the top 4 in women’s doubles. I showed it.
During the tournament, students took the lead in holding a junior tennis school, a tennis event for adults, and a wheelchair tennis experience event. For the Tennis Club of the Athletic Association, it was a valuable opportunity to learn a variety of things through the experience of running an international tournament on a student-led basis.
