The musical “The Prince of Tennis” (commonly known as Tenimyu) has continued to evolve as a monumental 2.5-dimensional musical for 21 years since its launch in 2003. This work, which is the 6th work of Tenimyu’s 4th season, depicts the opening match of the national tournament, where Seigaku, who won the Kanto junior high school tennis tournament, takes on Higa, a dark horse from Okinawa.

We hope that this will be Tenimyu’s 4th national convention, and that it will be a more lively performance than ever before, and we will signal that we will “create the pulse of culture” in preparation for Reiwa 12, which will mark the 1300th anniversary of the company’s founding. “Souken 13” 00th Anniversary Commemoration Project”, and in recent years has held the “Anime Song Bon Odori” at the summer tradition “Kanda Myojin Noryo Festival”, making it the first time in the history of Tenimu to pray for a hit at Kanda Myojin Shrine, which has a strong affinity for entertainment. It was my first time praying for the success of the performance, so I was nervous, but I also felt a sense of excitement that the performance was finally about to begin, and I was really looking forward to it.
Now, after the unveiling event, we have found various challenges and are able to take on the challenge of practicing with even greater motivation, so we are all having a very fulfilling time practicing.

–You can’t beat Higa here! That’s the point

Seigaku respects the past cast members who have created Tenimyu so far, and we will never lose in terms of “humility” and “freshness”! Also, we haven’t lost in terms of numbers (number of club members) (lol)!

– Impression of your opponent

My impression of my opponent Hitoshi Tanoshi (played by Seidai Hirakawa) is that he is a glutton. In order to help build his body, there is a special catering facility for Tanishi in the training hall.
I try to think about how Ryoma-kun can take on a strong opponent like Hitoshi Tanoshi, and try to bring out various things in practice. Also, I want you to see how cute Ryoma is!

I prayed with the feelings of the cast members who are not here today. I wanted to go into the actual performance with this new story in mind, and the hope that our first performance would get off to a good start.

ーーHow do you feel about practicing now?

During the rehearsal period, I try to read the script at least once a day, and I always try to read the script because I notice something today that I didn’t notice yesterday or make new discoveries.
Since this performance will be the national competition, we will do our best to show all the members of Seigaku more powerful than ever.

–You can’t beat Higa here! That’s the point

I think that Seigaku members have a “greenishness.” Even if it’s not cool, I have to go! I don’t think Higa can beat the enthusiasm of a middle school boy.

– Impression of your opponent

Nikaido-kun, who plays Eishiro Kite, is a good singer and his performance is top-notch, so even though he’s my opponent, I feel like he’s always teaching me a lot of things. That’s why I want to respect them and try my best to defeat them.

ーーHow do you feel about practicing now?

One of our slogans is “youth,” and let’s all make good things during rehearsals! It feels like we are working together as one, like club activities! Youth! I feel like I’m living the youthful life of a junior high school student every day.

–What I keep in mind when preparing for the role

Manager Tezuka was away due to injury until the finals of the Kanto Tournament, and during that time, Deputy Manager Oishi led the club as acting manager, but he was able to fulfill his promise with Tezuka to participate in the national tournament, and even more. Everyone at Seigaku is also improving. Tezuka will also return with an improved level, so I would like to see Seigaku become even stronger.

–You can’t beat Higa here! That’s the point

I did a lot of research on my experience as a deputy manager, what I worried about there, and the relationship between the manager and Oishi.
When someone finds a problem, we all gather together for a meeting and set aside time to discuss, so I think teamwork is key.

ーーHow do you feel about practicing now?

All of the Higa cast members are really fired up, and they do everything seriously, whether it’s singing, dancing, acting, or even doing things during breaks, so I wonder if they’ll hold up when we have one day of practice. However, since everyone has an amazing ability to concentrate, they are able to concentrate until the end while rehearsing.

–What I keep in mind when preparing for the role

Kai is a character who uses both his right and left hands, so he is conscious of changing his racket depending on the lyrics. My Okinawan language teacher teaches me how to speak and intonation, and recently he taught me how to use the finger whistle, so the finger whistle is ringing in the rehearsal hall. However, I’m the only one in Higa who can’t whistle (lol).

–This place will never lose to Seigaku! That’s the point

I was a member of the Tenimyu Boys during the Hyotei performance, so I was watching the 11th generation cast of Seigaku, but I felt a completely different sparkle in everyone in Shin Seigaku. I am. During daily rehearsals, I realized that there are many possibilities for acting, and I am learning a lot.
The thing that Higa doesn’t lose to Seigaku is its “hotness.” Dance, acting, and bench work are as hot as they come! After all, it’s a tank top, and I can’t lose to Seigaku who wears a jersey!
