On January 12th (Korean time),at the BWF World Tour Super 1000 Malaysia Open held in Kuala Lumpur,An Se-young delivered a stunning performance,defeating second-ranked Wang Zhi Yi of China with a decisive 2-0 (21-17,21-7) victory. The match, a display of An’s remarkable skill and power, concluded in a mere 45 minutes.

안세영은 한국 배드민턴의 역사를 써 내려가고 있다. 2023년 세계선수권대회에서 한국 선수 최초의 단식 우승을 차지했다.그해 전영 오픈에서는 방수현 이후 27년 만에 여자 단식 금메달을 따냈고, 항저우아시안게임에서는 역시 1994년 히로시마 대회 방수현 이후 한국 선수로는 29년 만에 2관왕을 달성했다.
안세영은 지난해 파리올림픽에서는 역시 1996년 애틀랜타 대회 방수현 이후 28년 만에 단식 금메달을 따냈다. 1년 만에 3개 메이저 대회 정상에 섰다.
여기서 끝이 아니었다. 올해 첫 국제 대회에서는 방수현도 이루지 못한 88년 말레이시아 오픈 역사에서 단식 2연패를 일군 최초의 한국 선수가 됐다.
