The Madhubani District Table Tennis Association (MDTTA) has unveiled it’s exciting calendar for the year, promising a thrilling season for local players. District Secretary Santosh Kumar Jha announced that the year’s first competition will coincide with the celebration of Republic day.
Following this, table tennis enthusiasts can look forward to the second tournament on April 22nd, commemorating World Table Tennis Day. The summer months will see the MDTTA Summer championship,while August will bring another exciting event,timed to coincide with both Independence Day adn national Sports Day on august 29th.
The pinnacle of the MDTTA calendar will be the District Championship, scheduled for October and November. This prestigious event will serve as a platform to identify top performers who will then represent Madhubani at zonal and state ranking championships.
The Bihar Table Tennis association (BTTA) typically organizes five to six state ranking tournaments annually,providing ample opportunities for MDTTA players to showcase their skills and compete against the best in the state.
MDTTA has a strong track record of success at these tournaments, and this year, a new generation of talented players is poised to make their mark. Names like Mandeep,Ankit,Sunny,Mansi,Neeraj,Vaishnavi,Krishna,Shiv Shankar,Archana,Sujata,Neha,and Chandni are generating buzz and are expected to shine brightly in the upcoming state-level competitions.

Sunil Chandra: It’s splendid to see such enthusiasm and dedication from the MDTTA.A full calendar definitely benefits everyone involved. Frequent competitions provide players with invaluable match experience, opportunities to test new strategies,and a platform to showcase thier progress. This kind of consistent exposure is critical for player development, especially for our younger generation.
Moderator: Absolutely! The article mentions several promising young players like Mandeep, Ankit,Sunny, Mansi, and others. Do you see them making a mark at the state level?
Sunil Chandra: I’m cautiously optimistic.These youngsters have raw talent and a strong work ethic. However, transitioning from local success to state-level competition is a big leap. They need to refine their game further, work on their mental strength, and be prepared for tougher opponents.
Moderator: You bring up a critical point — the mental aspect of the game. How critically important is it for these young players to have access to proper coaching and mentorship?
Sunil Chandra: it’s absolutely crucial.

sunil Chandra: Every generation brings something new to the table. While we can’t compare them directly to past champions, I believe these young talents have the potential to carve their own path and make Madhubani proud. Their success depends on consistent hard work, proper guidance, and, of course, a bit of luck.
