Asti Archers Shine at Regional Indoor Championships
The cantalupa gymnasium hosted the thrilling Regional Indoor Archery Championships,organized by the Arceri Iuvenilia.Nine talented archers from Asti participated,returning home laden with medals,showcasing the region’s prowess in the sport.Leading the charge was Roberto Marengo, a familiar face on the podium. Marengo dominated the Master Olympic class,securing the regional title with an impressive 552 points. He further solidified his victory by leading his team to a first-place finish with a combined score of 1633 points. In the overall competition, Marengo placed a commendable fourth individually and clinched the silver medal in the team event alongside Simone Dezani.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Giada Marengo delivered an exceptional performance, claiming the Allieve Olympic regional title with a remarkable 557 points. she secured a spot in the final four of the overall competition and battled her way to a bronze medal. Teaming up with Botto and Mjino, Giada led her team to the top spot in the Allieve category, ultimately earning a silver medal after a hard-fought final against the Iuvenilia team.
Simone Dezani, competing in the Senior Olympic class, secured a well-deserved second place with 558 points and contributed to his team’s second-place finish with a combined score of 1630 points. Even though he faced a quarter-final defeat against Marengo in the individual competition, Dezani joined forces with him to claim the silver medal in the team event.
Patrizia Atzeni, representing the Prealpi Biellesi archers, also added to the medal tally. She achieved a fifth-place finish in the Master Olympic category with 500 points and played a crucial role in her team’s victory, securing the regional title with a combined score of 1485 points.
The Cantarana archery club also celebrated success. Carlo Pani secured a silver medal in the Olympic Junior category with an impressive 545 points. Alessandro Paesante, competing in the Olympic Boys category, also earned a silver medal with a score of 517 points. Massimo Musso, in the Compound Master category, placed 15th with 536 points, while Stefano Vettore achieved a 10th-place finish in the Olympic Master category with 520 points.
