Baník Ostrava’s Reserve Squad Gears Up for a Crucial Spring Season
Baník Ostrava’s reserve team is gearing up for a challenging spring season in the second league. After a difficult fall, the club is committed to bolstering the squad and ensuring a triumphant turnaround. Coach Josef Dvorník outlined the team’s preparation strategy, emphasizing a focus on fitness and strategic additions.
The team’s winter break involved individualized training plans, with a recent shift towards speed and endurance exercises. This intensive phase will culminate in a ten-day training block leading up to the first match against Prostějov on January 11th.
While the team welcomes back several players from the 19th team who gained valuable experience during the November intermediate block, Dvorník acknowledges the need for reinforcements. “We’re looking to add quality players who can contribute meaningfully to the squad,” he stated.
The coach envisions these additions filling roles within the smaller core group, potentially as the twelfth, thirteenth, or fourteenth player. This strategic approach aims to refine the team’s composition rather than simply expanding the roster.
Currently, Brazilians Samuel and Marko Kilibarda are exploring opportunities elsewhere, while Abdoulkarim Muhammed Jamiu and Jakub Drozd are undergoing trials in Vlašimi.
Baník’s January training will take place in Bazale, followed by a training camp in Antalya, Turkey, in February. Upon their return, the team is scheduled to face Polonia Warsaw in a amiable match.
